Brothers in Arms (L Wilson)

This comprehensive collection of letters from the Boulton brothers to their widowed mother living in Sydney, details the outbreak of hostilities in Europe, through to Egypt, Gallipoli, Pozieres and other major battles of the Western Front; and finally the withdrawal of Australian troops in October 1918 to the occupation forces entering Germany in December 1918.

Two Australian born brothers with English parents give accounts of the War from two different perspectives. Older brother Nigel joins the British Expeditionary Force while studying in London, and provides a strategic and medical view of the War; while his younger brother Stephen enlists with the Australian Imperial Force back in Sydney and talks of daily front-line life and his progression to the rank of Lieutenant in the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade.
