Douglas Stewart Rogers was born in 1922 and raised in Sydney, New South Wales. The Second World War was declared while he was still at school and after enrolling in economics at Sydney University he joined the university regiment. Eventually transferring to the RAAF, Douglas was trained as a navigator in Canada before being sent to Britain where he spent the rest of the war in Bomber Command. Douglas' life thereafter was long and productive but this memoir concludes just after VE Day and before he was demobbed and returned to Australia not yet 24 years old.
