Description:
Nurses have been instrumental in Australian military history, tending to the needs of the sick and wounded soldiers as well as civilians whose lives have been affected by war and natural disaster. Often working under arduous and dangerous conditions, Australian nurses have served in conflicts since the Boer War and continue to do so to this day.
Artist Napier Waller depicted an Australian Arm Nurse in his iconic stained-glass window in the Hall of Memory at the Australian War Memorial. This image is representative of the devotion of Australian Army Nurse during the Australian wartime period.
